Methodology

Last updated: May 17, 2026

Transparency is core to WheySearch. This page explains how we collect data, calculate rankings, and present product comparisons. No black boxes, no hidden scores.

1. Data Collection

We source product information from Amazon.com listings, official brand websites, and nutrition labels. Key data points include:

  • Product name, brand, and variant (flavour, size)
  • Price and number of servings per container
  • Protein, carbs, fat, sugar, fibre, and calories per serving
  • Key active ingredients (creatine content, caffeine, BCAAs, etc.)
  • Diet type (vegetarian, vegan, non-veg) where applicable

We update our database regularly. Prices on WheySearch are indicative -- always confirm the current price on Amazon.com before purchasing.

2. Price-Per-Serving Calculation

Price-per-serving is the single most important metric for comparing supplement value. We calculate it as:

Price per serving = Product price ($) / Number of servings

This normalises products of different sizes into a single comparable number. A 1 kg tub and a 2 kg tub can be compared directly when you know what each serving costs.

3. How We Rank Products

Default sort order on category and comparison pages considers:

  • Price per serving -- lower is generally ranked higher within the same category.
  • Nutritional profile -- protein content per serving, sugar content, and active ingredient dosage are factored in.
  • Brand reputation -- established brands with third-party testing tend to rank higher when other factors are equal.

You can always re-sort by price, protein, or other metrics using the filters on each page. We provide the data -- you decide what matters most.

4. What We Don't Do

  • We do not accept payment from brands for higher placement or better scores.
  • We do not let affiliate commissions influence rankings. Every product links to Amazon.comequally.
  • We do not provide medical or nutritional advice. WheySearch is a comparison tool, not a substitute for professional guidance.

5. Blog & Editorial Content

Our blog posts are written with the same data-first approach. Product picks in articles are based on nutritional value and price -- not sponsorships. When we link to a product, it is always an affiliate link, which we disclose on our Affiliate Disclosure page.

6. Corrections & Feedback

Found an error in our data? A product that's discontinued or mispriced? Let us know via our Contact page and we'll fix it promptly.
